Sometimes at GoCarShare HQ, we like to venture out of the office, hop into a car and head down to a festival! Last weekend we visited the Americana International Festival in Loughborough to enjoy a pretty big slice of America in the UK! Here’s some of our highlights from the festival!
Cars Cars Cars
Va Va Voom! Unsurprisingly we took an interest in the cars that were on show at the festival, and by God there were loads of vintage and unique models on offer. Amongst all the Harleys and Chevrolets on display we were taken by this pink beauty of a Cadilac. For us, it immediately invoked memories of Grease and Cream Sodas at a cool diner.
Throughout the weekend there was a diverse range of music played on stage during the festival. Bluegrass, Country, Rockabilly and the Blues there was loads for us to sway along to as we said hello to some folks at our humble stall. We have to admit, we did have a little sing-a-long to Don’t Break My Heart!
Of course, where there’s music playing they’ll be people dancing. We stood in awe as people got up on the stage and jived and boogied to the band. A mass outbreak of line dancing was a regular occurrence, sadly our dancing feet were a bit out of practice to join in!
We definitely felt a bit guilty wearing only our camping basics when a lot of people had made so much effort with their clothes. Their were 50s style numbers, bouffant hairstyles and even killer sideburns spotted as we walked about the festival. The vintage fashion show was a highlight, with creative takes on old clothing styles. Think Marilyn Monroe with a harder edge and loads of tattoos!
